A virus is neither. Viral particles aren’t even alive under most definitions of the word. Roughly speaking, a parasite is an organism that feeds off another organism without directly killing it. A predator is an organism that kills and eats its prey. Viruses don’t eat, so they don’t fall under either category.

A better definition is a disease vector, since they cannot survive outside of a living cell, and are not alone living organisms. That is why they are called virus particles. A parasite lives off of a living organisms, but once the host dies, the viruses are dead unless they can infect another living host. It has no intelligence with which to bqualify as a preadator.
