Parasite Cleanse FAQ:

I’ve been looking up several definitions of a “parasite.” More sources do not require the parasite to be of a different species than the host. I just wanted to know the public opinion. Thanks.

Would you consider a mammalian fetus to be a parasite by the definitions you are finding?

Legato:
Biology itself is science of exceptions:
1.Brood parasites are organisms that use the strategy of brood-parasitism, a kind of kleptoparasitism found among birds, fish or insects, involving the manipulation and use of host individuals either of the same (intraspecific brood-parasitism) or different species (interspecific brood-parasitism) to raise the young of the brood-parasite.
2. Mammalian foetus are parasites of their mother’s.
Enjoy

Nope. There are some deep sea fish species in which the male is parasitic on the much larger female.
